Hello family and friends. We are overwhelmed by your love, concern, and desire to help!!
Lys let us know that when they got to the hospital this morning, Eli was on a 21% oxygen mixture, which is the normal amount you and I breath. He still needs the ventilator to take breaths, but this is good news that his body is using oxygen at normal levels. Also they were able to adjust one of the blood pressure medications a tiny bit again, and are waiting to see if he will tolerate this. Lys spoke with the neurologist, and according to the readings he has taken so far, Eli is not having seizures, and they don't see anything "bad" going on with his brainwaves at this point. He did appear to be uncomfortable, so they increased his morphine a bit. We are waiting anxiously for tonight, at 11 pm they will start warming his body temperature back up, a process that takes 6 hours. We are told that when this happens, a lot can change, and they will be able to more accurately assess his status.
Lys sounded strong this morning, and is having visitors today which I know will help bolster her. Thank you so much for your response to their need for a place to stay. We are currently working on a couple options, to see which will fill needs best. A family friend has relatives who live near the hospital, and Lys and Ted will be talking with them today to see if their incredibly generous offer will work for everyone. Lys' cousin is working on a paypal account, so any of you who want to donate towards food/hotel costs will be able to do that. We will let you know as soon as we have the link working for that. There is a hotel nearby that offers discounts for NICU parents, and meals. While this is probably not a permanent solution, they stayed last night, and it may work from time to time as we figure out all the details of the Ronald Mcdonald housing.
Much love and thanks,
Auntie Jess
